On Saturday January 12th, Turkish American Ladies League (TALL) held its first Tea Party of the year and 2019 Elections for TALL Board of Directors at the Chudleigh Residence in Westlake Village.
Even though it was a rainy day and the 101 Freeway was completely shutdown, we were very happy to welcome over 35 guests including Honorable Consul General Can Oğuz’s wife dear Hümeyra Oğuz. Guests enjoyed a buffet of Turkish salads and mezes accompanied by Turkish tea, coffee, desserts and fruits prepared by the TALL Board.
As part of the Tea Party, there was a special workshop on Making Family Communications work by Dr. Menije Boduryan- Turner Psy.D. Everyone participated in Dr. Menije’s interactive presentation and learned little tips that will help improve everyday communications with our loved ones. TALL team is grateful for this wonderful presentation.
Following the workshop, President Zinnur Güvenç spoke about 2018 TALL activities and donations. She mentioned that TALL’s donations in 2018 to those in need were close to $10K. Next up was 2019 Elections.
In this year’s elections, three board members that served TALL many years decided to take a break to spend more time with their families. We do thank those members Jasmin Döker, Arzu Şimşek, Arzu Koçyiğit from the bottom of our hearts. Each of them have been continuous contributors of the TALL Board for over 10 years. We will miss them dearly.
TALL board members Aydan Atrek, Zinnur Güvenç and Elçim Alpan got re-elected for a new 2-year term. TALL also welcomed a brand new board member, Selin Atagül. Selin has been in LA for over 12 years, works as a product manager and is mother of one. She has worked in various philanthropic organizations back in Turkey such as Lions club and is looking forward to serve TALL community in the upcoming years.
Art pieces by Füsun Ünsal of Dorlion Art were displayed and up for sale during this day. Dear Füsun graciously donated 20% of the proceeds of the sales of her artwork to TALL. We thank Füsun for her support to TALL.
We would like to extend our gratitude to all contributors, members that were with us today and to those that signed up to become members. It was wonderful to see our TALL friends and meet new ones.
